The beer at E&O tends to be not very typical of San Francisco - that is not extremely bitter and not really big.  A lager yeast strain is used for all the beers, giving them a much smoother, more mellow taste.  Different hop combinations also depart the beer from the typical Cascade hopped beers of Northern California.

Beers are served in (I think) 14oz glasses for $3.95.

There are four beers on all year, and one of four seasonals.

Normal beers are:

Pilsener - Czech style.  Low bitterness, very clean and drinkable.

Eastern Golden - Kind of a standard Golden ale.  Very mellow with low bitterness.

IPA - More of a pale ale by San Francisco standards.  East Kent Goldings offer a nice aroma.

King's Stout - Served on nitrogen.  A good stout, but it probably would be better on CO2.

Seasonals:

Brown

Dragon's Breath

Spring Bock - A classic Maibock style beer.

Hefeweizen
