Great American Beer Festival

September 27-29.  The 20th GABF will be held in Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.  Here's the GABF page.

The Bay Area didn't do all that well at this year's GABF  (I guess we are all just a little ahead of our time).  San Francisco's only medal was won by Shaun O'Sullivan at 21-st Amendment.  Shaun picked up a silver for the Holiday Spiced Ale.

Russian River won a silver for the Damnation Belgian, and a gold for the Golden Wheat.  Third Street Ale Works won a bronze for the Annadel Pale Ale.  Powerhouse in Sabastapol won a silver for a dunkles.  Former 20 Tank brewer Chris Sheehan, now at Chelsea Brewing Company in New York City won a bronze for the Chelsea Cream Stout.

This year's fest had 2700 volunteers, about 2100 beers, and several hundred breweries.  Breweries were separated by region, so a trip to the Northeast revealed very different beers from say, the Pacific region.
